We are providing this statement to our customers who would like to know the status of SNS products before upgrading a workstation to OS X Yosemite.
Prior to upgrading, you should also verify that your other software and hardware products are compatible with Yosemite. (But then, if you're reading this statement you probably already know this, and you know that a backup is also recommended!!)
Please open a case with support if you have successfully been using the current version of your SNS product with versions of OS X prior to Yosemite and you believe you have discovered an issue with your SNS product as a direct result of upgrading to the GM build of Yosemite 10.10.
The following product statements apply only up to the build that was released as noted above, and the statements only cover whether or not something major is affected simply by the process of upgrading to Yosemite. We will update this status statement when any new information is confirmed...
globalSAN iSCSI Initiator
At this time we know of no globalSAN issues/incompatibilties (v.126.96.36.1999) caused as a direct result of upgrading to Yosemite.
The kext com.aladdin.kext.aksfridge may not be loaded under Yosemite, but this is not expected to cause any issue with Xtarget.
SANmp and iSANmp
Known issues with v.4.1, specifically with SANmp Admin, and this incompatibility started with the release of OS X Mavericks. However, there is a newer/widely-used beta version available (v.4.2) at http://snsftp.com that addresses that Mavericks incompatibility as well as what would have otherwise been an incompatibility with OS X Yosemite.
SANmp 188.8.131.522 (one issue #92431 ‘CLI sync may never finish if performed with --finder option’)
The kext com.aladdin.kext.aksfridge may not be loaded under Yosemite, but this is not expected to cause any issue with SANmp.
EVO Mount Utility
This application was shipped with some EVO v.4.x systems; it is now deprecated and superseded by ShareBrowser. If you have a v.4.x EVO OS and are using the EVO mount utility please contact our support team.
ShareBrowser Desktop Client
ShareBrowser v.184.108.40.206 (one issue #92183 ‘No cloud icon in preferences toolbar’)
ShareBrowser v.4.2.x has no known bugs that are specific to Yosemite.
See note in SANmp section regarding the com.aladdin.kext.aksfridge kext, though this is not expected to cause any issue with ShareBrowser.
EVO Shared Media Storage System
There are many different methods to connect a workstation to EVO, and some of these methods, such as Fibre Channel and 10GbE, may require a third-party piece of hardware or software. Therefore...
Please also review the list above to check the status of other SNS products you may be using with your EVO.
If you are connecting directly from your workstation's built-in GbE port, then basic connectivity can be expected.
If you are using any other NIC, Fibre Channel HBA, iSCSI initiator, or Thunderbolt adapter or chassis, please confirm with the manufacturer of that product to verify Yosemite-compliance with those products.
If you are using any business-critical application (which is 99.9% of EVO customers!) or similarly-critical drivers, please confirm with the manufacturer of that product to verify they are Yosemite-compliant.
Even if you have confirmed all of the above, in general, our position is that it is too soon to upgrade to Yosemite if your shared storage system is critical to your business (which, again, includes most EVO customers!). The reason for this position is not because of any known incompatibility with Yosemite and EVO, but you should proceed with an upgrade to Yosemite only if done with caution, as there may be third party non-SNS software/hardware you rely on to get your work done, and those may not be fully vetted yet with Yosemite.
